The patron Saint icon of the John the Apostle was written for custom order in July, 2017.
We would like to share pictures of the process of the writing of this icon.
The artist made gilding of nimbuses using leaf gold. Background covered with a paint, the “ocher” shade.
The main paint layer is applied to the white-black draft. Then artist writes the most important strokes of clothing.
On the next stage faces of the saints and text of the Holy Bible are written.
In the end, the artist adds details. He writes the title of the icon on the top of the wood board.
The icon is covered with varnish.
